Journal of Islamic Education Review (JIER) acknowledges the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, including Generative AI, in academic writing and research processes. Therefore, the journal establishes the following policy to maintain academic integrity, transparency, and the quality of its publications.

Use of Generative AI by Authors

The use of Generative AI (for example, to assist with grammar, sentence structure improvement, or initial idea development) is permitted as a supporting tool, not as a replacement for the author.

The use of AI must be limited to supportive editing, and not for generating the entire manuscript without the author’s intellectual contribution.

Authors are fully responsible for the entire content of the manuscript, including the accuracy of data, arguments, interpretations, and citations.

If Generative AI is used substantially in the preparation of the manuscript (for example in drafting or text analysis), authors must disclose the use of AI in the Acknowledgment or Method section.

Example statement:

“The author used generative AI tools for language editing and clarity improvement. All ideas, analysis, and conclusions remain the sole responsibility of the author.”

AI Cannot Be Listed as an Author

Generative AI cannot be listed as an author or co-author, as it does not possess ethical or legal responsibility.

Human authors remain the parties fully accountable for the scientific integrity of the article.

Use of AI in Data Analysis

If AI is used in the data analysis process (for example, text analysis, qualitative coding, or statistical processing), authors must clearly and transparently explain:

• The name of the tool/application used
• The system version (if relevant)
• How the tool was used in the research process

Prohibited and Unethical Uses of AI

Authors are strictly prohibited from:

• Using AI to generate fabricated data or manipulate data (falsification)
• Generating unverifiable citations
• Committing AI-assisted plagiarism

Violations of these provisions will be handled according to the journal’s publication ethics policy.

Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers are not permitted to upload manuscripts under review to public AI platforms without written permission from the publisher, in order to protect the confidentiality and copyright of the authors.

AI may be used in a limited capacity to assist with grammar checking or similarity detection (similarity check), while maintaining the confidentiality of the document.

Policy Updates

This policy may be updated periodically in accordance with technological developments and international standards of publication ethics.
